This is the second one I've ever done.  It's  a 1940 Phico, of which I purchased off Craigslist, and looked like this:

Once i fabricated the necessary speaker enclosures and head unit bezel, i needed to fill them.  Here's a list of the goodies:

- Clarion CD receiver (CZ500)
o Plays CD's, and CDs with MP3's or WMA's. Has an auxiliary output for MP3 players, or anything with a headphone jack. Has USB jack for thumb drive play or iPod or iPhone hookup.
        o Wireless remote
        o 50 watts
        o Bluetooth capable
- 2 Sony 6 x 9 speakers (XS-GT6937A)
- 2 Kenwood 6.5" speakers
- 10" MTX audio subwoofer
- Pyramid amplifier

Originally this large ten-tube Philco could receive AM, the "police" band (1.5 to 4 mc) and shortwave from 6 to 18 mc. Back in 1940, the original selling price was $100 and the total number produced was 28,505.

I took all of the old tubes, and transistors out, along with the speaker, and all other useless equipment.  I was left with this shell of the radio.  I sanded down the veneer, and then brushed on some high gloss Minwax all in 1 stain and polyurethane.  I then went down to my local fabric store and bought the speaker cover fabric.  This is what I had so far:

Since the radio and amplifier works off electricity commonly found in your automobile, I'd have to buy a converter.  I went with a Pyramid converter, it converts household 110 volt AC power into 12 volt DC electricity.  I've never used this brand converter before, but it works flawlessly, I am very happy with it. It puts out a steady stream of power, more than enough amps, and stays cool doing it.
